MBX Road Trip | `63 Austin Healey Roadster

A Roadster is an “Open Two-Seater” or “Tow-Seat Tourer.” The term was coined dating back to the 19th century that started with horse drawn carriage, which expanded to push bikes and motorcycles until it was redefined as a two-seater sports car with an open top.

The term has been redefined these days that a roadster can also be something of a fun car to drive on weekends or road trips. Matchbox has produced several licensed cars and even the obscure fictional ones. But the Austin-Healey 3000 is one of those iconic British cars that defined it.

Tomica Event Model | Subaru Sambar Curry Stand

They say Ramen is life and Noodles is something of a common delicacy in Asia notably in Japan, where there have been mobile vehicles of food trucks that offer this type of service. In reality you’ll see it in some parts of Asia, but it would be uncommon to find it as a mobile service in the Philippines.

Tomica has produced the Noodle Truck introducing it in 2008 in the main line and has been reused in other premium sub-brands. But this was also reproduced and re-branded as a Mobile Curry Stand as part of the Tomica Event Model, which was only available for in-store local promo events in Manila.

Food Trucks are no longer a novelty in Southeast Asia they are starting to become a common fixture to everyday life. This often becomes an interest translated in into collectible merchandise such as a diecast car and most of its aesthetics where it takes inspiration is based on the real world version, but most of it are made out of fiction.

The classic Tomica mainline of diecast cars continue to churn in one of the best diecast collectible in Asia notably Japan where all things cool about this country made it possible why most would invest in the toy brand.

Tomica | Mazda Roadster

Mazda MX-5 is a popular lightweight two-passenger roadster manufactured and marketed by Mazda with a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.

The convertible is marketed as the Mazda Roadster or Eunos Roadster in Japan, and as the Mazda MX-5 Miata in North America, where it is widely known as the Miata.

Tomica has a produced its diecast version of the Mazda MX-5, and since it was released for Japanese market this car is better known as the Mazda Roadster.

HW Metro | Road Bandit

For a long time the iconic Jeepney has become the face of Philippine Transport System, which would also considered ‘The King of the Road” and just like the Tuk Tuk it has finally received an interpretation into diecast form for Hot Wheels. But this is not the first time it was made into this 1:64 there were several versions.

It so happens that the Hot Wheels brand is popular among Filipino diecast collectors they’ve been wondering when this will ever happen? Before the turn of the new decade it was revealed in April 2019 and the rest as they say is history…

It’s Thursday night and everyone about to head for dinner, but there are chores to deal with like preparing the rubbish bins for Friday morning. It is a normal routine for most western countries like Australia that there’s a scheduled pick-up for the rubbish on a daily basis and those were the regular routine.

But Friday morning you’ll never notice but the whole neighborhood had all their rubbish set-up at their driveway. If you’re not paying attention that much you won’t even bother, but for the curious it’s like watching a wildlife documentary.

MBX Off-Road | `85 Porsche 911 Rally

Porsche as a brand competed in motorsport in the past and has developed their cars through competition with new technologies. They’ve competed in the 24 Hour of Le Mans and other racing events.

Most notably they also competed in Rally Sport such as the Paris-Dakar Rally with their Porsche 953 that has become iconic on its own right.

Matchbox has produced several licence Porsche models, but for 2019 they went off-road and in honor of that famous winning car in 1984.

Majorette Transporter | MAN TGA XXL

Majorette as a brand is well-known for its diecast car range with different sub-brands ranging from Street Cars, Racing Cars, and Premium Cars to name a few for its expanding product line. Majority of the well-detailed cars have been praised by collectors for its quality and design.

With that the 1:64 scale ranges continues to slowly progressed with its popular products that it also introduced tractor trailers line featuring rigs at 1:54 scale that would be considered what Matchbox had with the Superkings and Convoy range, where Majorette introduced their Transporter series with the MAN TGA XXL!

HW Baja Blazers | 84' Audi Sport Quattro

If you’re into rally motorsport then you must also appreciate the cars that were used for this competition. Sometimes it entices you to pursue the interest of automotive others would end up collecting the diecast cars based on them. There are known diecast car manufacturer brands out there and then there’s Mattel’s Hot Wheels.

For 2019 Hot Wheels has come up with various sublines and new castings one of them is the 84’ Audio Sport Quattro presented for this year under the ‘Baja Blazers’ range that feature fictional and licensed cars.

HW Speed Graphics | VW Käfer Racer

Volkswagen cars produced in collectible Diecast form has been translated with several toy brands in the past five to six decades with diverse design versions. The Volkswagen Beetle is iconic with the classic shape and curves described as the “People’s Car” that became legendary.

There are several color, shape and form that defined the Beetle. Hot Wheels has produced lots of them, but never redesigned to become something new to the eyes. Not even in fictional form that can become something radically Crazy this version that gave birth to the Käfer Racer.
