MBX Road Trip | `63 Austin Healey Roadster

A Roadster is an “Open Two-Seater” or “Tow-Seat Tourer.” The term was coined dating back to the 19th century that started with horse drawn carriage, which expanded to push bikes and motorcycles until it was redefined as a two-seater sports car with an open top.

The term has been redefined these days that a roadster can also be something of a fun car to drive on weekends or road trips. Matchbox has produced several licensed cars and even the obscure fictional ones. But the Austin-Healey 3000 is one of those iconic British cars that defined it.

MBX Sun Chasers | Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Ford had a long heritage building its identity not only with iconic cars like Mustang or modern day cars like the Fiesta or even Focus, but also introducing their take on trucks big or small. It is in their tradition to bring in something new to the brand and with that during the early 2000s it introduced the Ford Explorer Sport Trac.

This midsize pick-up truck was introduced for the North American market and this also was produced into a 1:64 scale diecast for the Matchbox brand that mirrors what the real life truck was, which is the middle sibling of the Ranger and F-150.

MBX Off-Road | `85 Porsche 911 Rally

Porsche as a brand competed in motorsport in the past and has developed their cars through competition with new technologies. They’ve competed in the 24 Hour of Le Mans and other racing events.

Most notably they also competed in Rally Sport such as the Paris-Dakar Rally with their Porsche 953 that has become iconic on its own right.

Matchbox has produced several licence Porsche models, but for 2019 they went off-road and in honor of that famous winning car in 1984.

HW Speed Graphics | VW Käfer Racer

Volkswagen cars produced in collectible Diecast form has been translated with several toy brands in the past five to six decades with diverse design versions. The Volkswagen Beetle is iconic with the classic shape and curves described as the “People’s Car” that became legendary.

There are several color, shape and form that defined the Beetle. Hot Wheels has produced lots of them, but never redesigned to become something new to the eyes. Not even in fictional form that can become something radically Crazy this version that gave birth to the Käfer Racer.

MBX Adventure City | Mazda MX-5 Miata

Roadsters are small type cars that became sort of trend in the mid-1990s with the rising popularity of Mazda’s MX-5 or in some countries known simply as the Mazda Roadster a rear type sports coupe.

Matchbox produced the fourth generation edition of the MX-5 as part of the 2016 series. It’s one of the rare cars seen available on retail and known as an iconic car for the Mazda brand that’s been a top seller all over the world.
