MBX Heroic Rescue | Corvette Stingray

The Corvette is an iconic name for the Chevrolet brand introduced in 1953 developed through seven generations. The original known as the “solid axle” model predating the independent rear suspension system seen in the 2nd generation.

Matchbox an iconic brand on its own has produced the earlier generations of the Corvette in die-cast form. For 2016 it brings the Corvette Stingray based Dubai Fire Department and more…

The seventh generation or C7 has been developed since 2007, which was supposed to be introduced by 2011 but was delayed for another 3 years. It was finally revealed in 2014 with its introductory model year. It was originally preferred to be a mid-engine or rear-engine as its layout design, but to keep the cost down they have chosen front-engine, read-wheel drive (RWD) platform to keep the production cost.

Power Grab Edition

Matchbox under Mattel has rarely used the box packaging concept even the time Tyco has acquired the rights from its original owners Lesney from England. Most of the mainline where produced in blister card packaging. It won’t be considered a “Match Box” if not for the brand’s name.

Mattel has brought back the packaging to the mainline released in 2015 as “Power Grabs” with the same die-cast, but different packaging from blister card and box type edition. The novelty of the box packaging is a rare thing for the brand name that makes production cost lower compared to Japanese competitor Tomica.

Dubai Fire Department

The Corvette Stingray is considered an “Old Man’s Toy” for its iconic design which continues its heritage in the seventh generation introduced in 2014. The die-cast version was released in 2016 with the Dubai Fire Department dressing, which mimics the real life Stingray from Dubai with all bells and whistles down to its logo.

This sleek looking sports car is certainly worth grabbing for your collection to those, who can just dream having this type of car that can only be seen in the streets of Dubai. This is also the introductory year for the casting of its latest incarnation of the Corvette Stingray for 2016 as part of the mainline and power grab edition.

Overall the Corvette Stingray is one of the iconic cars for General Motors’ Chevrolet Corvette Stingray a heritage that continue to be relevant for the current generation of ever evolving technology for the automotive industry. For Matchbox they scored a new casting that has ready been reproduced for 2017 as a German Police car with the “Polizei” dressing as its second iteration.

“2015 Corvette Stingray” is numbered 63 0f 125 die-cast cars released for Matchbox in 2016 and it was acquired at Toys R' Us in Westfield Tea Tree Plaza for $3.00 AUD or PhP 120.00 in Philippine Peso.

Matchbox is distributed and sold in Australia by Mattel Pty., LTD. based in Richmond, Victoria.
