Majorette Transporter | MAN TGA XXL

Majorette as a brand is well-known for its diecast car range with different sub-brands ranging from Street Cars, Racing Cars, and Premium Cars to name a few for its expanding product line. Majority of the well-detailed cars have been praised by collectors for its quality and design.

With that the 1:64 scale ranges continues to slowly progressed with its popular products that it also introduced tractor trailers line featuring rigs at 1:54 scale that would be considered what Matchbox had with the Superkings and Convoy range, where Majorette introduced their Transporter series with the MAN TGA XXL!

There are different cars and utility vehicles, but you have to go bigger now with a different range of tractor trailers. Then you have Majorette Transporter introducing a plethora of big rigs in a scale that is affordable and close to the mainline range of cars that the brand has produced.

Heritage has its own story with Majorette in the early 1980s when “Transporter” was known as “Transports/Super Movers” and other names, but then it was originally designated as the 600 Series of 1/87 scale trucks a similar concept by its rival since Majorette was considered the Matchbox of France from back in the day establishing its own range of super trucks.

By 2013, Majorette just simplified its name to “Transporter” and streamlines the scale down to 1:54 reintroducing the range with two licenced trucks with MAN and the other with Mercedes-Benz with different trailers and livery to match with the variation’s use as with packaging and its modern design.

Transporter | MAN TGA XXL Car Transporter

Introduced in 2015, the MAN TGA XXL Car Transporter painted in blue, black, and white was the only vehicle to bring your cars delivered to their garage. It has diecast and the tractor head has interiors. Although it is no longer that bigger size in comparison to tis earlier compatriots it still has details and quality.

Packaged on a red standard bubble featuring art of the main Transporter trucks, the Mercedes-Benz German Police and Maersk Container Truck that defines this product lines image which also include a range of MAN TGA variants that features its variations on what they’re hauling.

But the Car Transporter stands out due to its functionality and like all Transporter tractor head their hitch connectors’ features a special design lock so the trailer won’t be removed easily. The trailer body is entirely made of diecast while the top part and ramp are made of plastic as wells as the chassis and support feet.

Special Features:

Segmented Truck and Trailer
Hitch Lock Connectivity
Detailed Interiors and Design
Working Trailer

Scale Comparison | Majorette vs. Matchbox

Both brands have their best and not-so great highlights for producing diecast cars and other things that collectors would appreciate. For this side-by-side comparison the Ford Cargo is matched with the MAN TGA XXL as both have the same scale at 1:54 and have diverse aesthetics based on actual trucks.

The Ford Cargo was released in Matchbox’s mainline with interiors for 2015 but by 2017 they removed those details in its succeeding casting. But with Majorette they kept the quality on all their Transporter trucks just keeps updating the livery from carrying helicopters to tractors for famers.

When you parked the Ford Cargo beside the MAN TGA XXL it dwarfs from its height. Now the question is if the real life Ford Cargo is smaller than the MAN TGA XXL as side-by-side comparison shows having the same scale should be the one produced by Matchbox be a little bit bigger?

Car Transporter | Connects with Other Brands But…

The Car Transporter trailer can carry a maximum of four cars, which depends on their length since not all diecast cars have the same scale its standard scale would be 1:64, but not in all the cars that were produced by Majorette or its contemporaries like Hot Wheels, Matchbox or even from Tomica.

Its trailer is compatible with Matchbox’s Ford Cargo, whoever the design for the hitch just puts it on top rather than slide and lock like the MAN TGA XXL or other Majorette produced Transporter trucks. But it works and it’s a beauty to see the lonely Ford Cargo haul a compliment of cars using the Transporter trailer that came with the MAN TGA XXL tractor head.

It’s a mix and match for the trailer which car can be hauled in and it’s impressive enough to hold any car with the exception of trucks and vans due to height limitation. Besides that if the car is wide it won’t fit in the car transporter with ease.

Overall the MAN TGA XXL with Car Transporter takes you back to your childhood with those old Superkings Car Transporters hauling all your cars. With Majorette it brings back the nostalgia of that time. The only downside to the Transporter range is that it is limited to only two licence trucks. It would be cool to see a Scania or even a Hino truck, but hopefully there will be more for now this Car Transporter has enough play value to young kids and impressive display piece for collectors out there.

“MAN TGA XXL Car Transporter” is part of the 2015 range of Transporter series by Majorette and is retailed at PhP 449.75 Pesos ($ 12.92 AUD | $ 8.88 USD**) distributed by Europlay Distributor Co in the Philippines. This was acquired at Toy Kingdom flagship store in SM Megamall.
