MIAS 2024 | First Day Sights & Images

The first day at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) was always a great time to see emerging technology as well as the current models that are now out in the market. Every year this event grows and continues to expand its themes including adding another venue.

We get a glimpse of the tail end of the first day, where you see confetti still all over the lobby area of the World Trade Center Metro Manila. The much-awaited car show of the year is something that others admire with the reveals of something new every year, and they continue to do it just that.

It was a busy early evening as you see a line-up of vintage cars grace the outside area of the venue with a majority of JDMs (Japanese Domestic Market) taking over the area featuring some of the classiest cars from yesteryears, and certainly, at the far end of the venue the open parking lot is blocked off with a private event from Nissan with their camping and off-road themed set up for their vehicles.

The front part of the venue, where you usually get your tickets, and also the exhibit area for the Die-cast Collections have been moved to the main convention center. You can see that this area is now focused on car brands that would allow convention visitors to request a test drive with their latest models.

Inside the main lobby, there are expensive cars like a Ferrari and some more JDMs. The same part where you purchase your ticket and inquire about further details about the event at the secretariat booth. The giant doors to the convention are now open and you can see more confetti all over the place.

Nissan has the best location once you enter the main hall, while on the left GAC Motors can be seen there too. The new Fairlady Z and GT-R are getting enough crowds. On your right Chevrolet is just presenting their six flagship vehicles.

Further back, Chinese car manufacturers presenting their Hybrid and Electric cars like Lynx & Co are first-timers to be part of this year’s event. At the far end of the hall is the Hyundai brand. They took most of that location followed by Subaru, and then Suzuki with their first public introduction of the Jimny variant that had a longer wheelbase.

By the time you get to the other side of the hall, you might see the new models of Jetour. But before that, there’s an electric car from Ytterby staring at you with those rounded headlights. This year’s exhibitors are a mix of ICE (Internal Combustion Engine), Hybrid, and Plug-in Electric you see options for the consumer to choose from. It’s one of the diverse offerings MIAS has presented.

This does not include the participating exhibitors at the SMX Convention Centre. It’s a crowded and packed event moving to the weekend and there will be random activities by participating exhibitors that you’ll be busy not to miss the opportunity to get into their games and photo opportunities with the women too.

When you’re done checking the new Mitsubishi Triton and the rest of the new models from BAIC you’ll be exploring the other side of the booth, where you can find the Die-Cast Collections exhibit that also has some participating sellers of car parts and other things that would enhance your ride or just have a hotdog or a burger at the food section before you take the exit out. Even towards the late afternoon, you might still be able to see vintage cars at the far back of the main hall or get to see the Russ Swift Show.

There’s always something new to see for this year’s MIAS and all you need is to prepare yourself and have fun seeing new cars or socializing with the people at each participating booth. The weekend will surely be the busiest so if you have plans to visit the event come early and get ready.

Don’t forget to have fun along the way whenever you can.

Car launches featuring Nissan, GAC Motor, Subaru, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Chevrolet, and more are just the main attraction on the first day. This event is like no other car show that continues to grow with the turnout every year, which now expands with a new venue there's more room to bring out the best cars that are bridging the future.

MIAS is back with a vengeance, and also the local car enthusiast that is missing out on all the motoring in the last two years. There are more activities in the next few days in case you missed out on the opening day. These are just some images that happened with all the local artists coming out to support the famous car brands there will be more sights to see up until Sunday, so don’t miss out!
