American Classic | Chevrolet Impala

Chevrolet as a brand has established itself under General Motors some of the most iconic cars of yesteryears. Most of them are still being manufactured to soothe anyone needs in their everyday life.

They are impressive cars, but one iconic name in Chevrolet’s illustrious fleet of cars stands out and that is the “Impala” a name most car enthusiast will know because it has heritage and one lecturer from TAFE South Australia happens to own one just parked inside the Regency Park campus.

For those who are into cars everyone knows the rich history and legacy the Chevrolet Impala brings. It was originally introduced as a concept car in 1956 which is a full-size General Motors Motorama show car that bore Corvette-like design cues, especially the grille. To make it short the “Impala” name lasted nine generations and surely everyone already knows the rest is history.

But down there in South Australia where a lecturer works at TAFE in Regency Park owns one, which he shares acquired it two years ago. Currently in its appearance it sports different tires and plans to replace the stock hood or bonnet to accommodate the scoop that will be installed on top of its engine.

Aussie Historical Story

To begin with the Chevrolet Impala parked at the TAFE Regency Campus is a 1968 model, which is a Fourth Generation Australian muscle car having a right-hand steering wheel. The story is that it used to be owned by the Australian Government that is being used to drive the then Prime Minister of Australia.

Evidently with the holes can be seen on the surface of the boot or trunk, where a luggage rack used to be installed that was removed to make the Impala more ‘pleasing to the eye’, but the part where a small flag use to be installed is still there instead of a hood ornament which keeps this car’s previous life not having major changes.

Currently, after acquiring this classic its used now for cruising or just a ‘weekend ride’ as in South Australia there’s a law that you can only allowed to drive older cars for ninety days so there’s a log book that the owner has shared where he puts the date and time where he brought this beautiful machine.

Nothing Beats the Original

When the current owner acquired this he shared that everything was kept in stock. The upholstery is original and the fine details of this 1968 Impala is exquisite down to the roar of its classic ginormous classic carby engine like it was just rolled over the assembly line last week.

There’s nothing like a muscle car that still have its original colors down to the trimmings intact that used to be a Prime Minister’s ride in the late 1960s to the 1970s. For some countries this is a novelty that they never saw in the road. In the Philippines it’s mostly a common car that you can now only see displayed in car shows.

If you’re a true blue petrol head you’ll appreciate the history and legacy of this impressive machine. No doubt the imposing appearance of the Chevrolet Impala is like driving a tank with in style that rarely appreciated by those who are into the classics and this one is something to appreciate and give you an impression that sometimes you’ll think that there are no cars like this anymore, but a reminder how the automotive industry has evolve with technology has come a long way.
