Cars & Coffee | Culture Meets Community
For someone who never used to these informal gatherings it was a great opportunity to pick some ideas from car owners who showed up and share their passion. Everyone was welcoming to give their tips and pick their brains how they got interested in investing on their most prized four wheel machine.
There are several cart meet-ups in South Australia, but this one with Cars & Coffee has been consistent from an informal cart meets to a legit community that thrive to be open and sharing their ideas to those who got interested with owning a car and turning it into their showcase piece or just sharing their project that gave them the interest. The friendly community is not just about parking their cars as early as 7 AM and showing off their shiny machines. It’s about sharing their passion and helping collaborate at the same time expanding the interest about the car culture.
It’s rare that you see how these communities grow and not to mention have a healthy friendly competitive spirit among other groups who organized their car meet-ups. You won’t see any exclusivity or tribalism but are more open minded in fostering interest about anything about cars, which you won’t probably in another country.
For this month most cars that has been taking up space in the parking lot is either classic hot rods or rare discontinued machines from the earlier days from the 1950s or 1960s that are eye catching that you only see in museums and history books. Sunday’s affair had more cars than matching people driving it. The discussions about random things from cars to what’s your breakfast were quite a bit of laugh.
Cars & Coffee welcomes everyone from all walks of life that they don’t put exclusivity if your car is made by Americans, Germans, Italians or Japanese. It may not be as rare as the Hillman or as fancy as the latest model like the Aston Martin Vanquish and you just want to meet the same people who share your passion this is one of the places you should drop by even if you don’t own an expensive car. This is where you start getting interested in cars and it’s not about showing off just to be part of an elite group but being one with a larger community welcomes everyone.
So of you happen to be based outside South Australia or just passing through to another state and you happen to be nearby drop by and say ‘Hi’ at Blackwood. The gathering happens every last Sunday of the month with a cup of coffee as early at 7 AM and everyone leaves before eleven, which you also not have an idea by then which place to go to next for your brunch.
If you missed the gatherings in yesterday's recent car meet check out the photos above. You can also catch up and get more updates on the next one LIKE Cars and Coffee Blackwood on Facebook!
