Aussie Classics | The Holden HJ
There have been several variations of the HJ that were produced from October 1974 up to its last production model in 1976. This is the four door sedan that has kept its original interiors including upholstery. It was the successor to the Holden HQ series that featured several variations that also includes a Chevrolet stock engine underneath the bonnet that is certainly sweet once you see it in person.
A family heirloom indeed, the tradition never goes out of style but it certainly is like fine wine even though this H looks older than your parents it’s a keeper that you’ll seeing being driven on the road during weekends. It’s a beauty to behold that you don’t see cars like this in other countries that prefer sleeker Japanese imports.
Holden may no longer produce cars in Australia but it still part of most Aussies’ life and keeping it maintained and still in the family shows there are things you don’t see in this car that it still around being cared for like part of the family.
You can immediately see this in the streets with the personalized plate and like any HJ model it’s a One Tonner that’s now a rare find if you happen to drive around Adelaide. Let alone you’ll find one inside the TAFE Regency Park campus owned by one of the lecturers who takes pride having one passed to him by his dad. This impressive beauty has a personality and you’ll find it through these images.
These days you’ll also find this car being used for weddings hence being rented by Cavalier Classic Cars. It’s not relegated to just being driven for weddings it is a Sunday drive car by the owner just to keep it running like a well-oiled machine the exteriors are heavenly trimmed and proper that shine never fades.
Truly, an Australian heritage few people into cars may not know about the Holden brand producing such a car that is an original and if you see it on the road don’t forget to honk for it (if that’s legal) as car deserves respect like a tradition that still remains part of the Australian car history.
